Anita Malfatti.
The Wind, 1915.
Oil on canvas.
Palaces Collection.

Anita Malfatti is one of the most important Brazilian artists. In “The Wind”, of 1915, Anita was aware of the colors and the movement, and she captured with vibrant brushstrokes the coastal sights of Monhegan Island, Maine, in the United States. This work was both in her solo exhibition in 1917, when it was harshly criticized by Monteiro Lobato, and in the Modern Art Week of 1922.
