Antonio Rocco
Curious Ladies, n.d
Oil on canvas
Palaces Collection.

Antonio Rocco was born in Italy and studied at the Fine Arts Institute of Naples, a school that taught plein air painting, searching for natural light representation. Once in Brazil, he created the “Newest School” in 1918, whose teaching focused on vocational courses as well on the female public education. In the work “Curious Ladies”, he represented with different colors, bright light and vibrant brushstrokes, four young women leaning out of the window, watching daily life passing by on the sidewalk.
