Noêmia Mourão, one of the main Brazilian Modernist painters, features the female figure as both soft and striking. Painter, scenographer and drawer, she studied with Victor Brecheret and Di Cavalcanti, whom she married. In addition to painting, she also studied Art History and Philosophy at Sorbonne. Still in France, she would make illustrations for the newspapers Le Monde and Paris Soir. She also had a show on Radiodiffusion Française, where she discussed Art and Literature together with the artist Cícero Dias.
