“Landscape was a relevant topic in Rebolo's work. In the early 1930s, he used to go to the countryside to paint with friends, who were beginner artists like him. They had the habit of going to São Paulo’s outlying areas to trace their compositions and produce their exercises in painting ‘en plein air’. The landscape theme was crucial to Rebolo's art all along. His relationship with nature was always very strong to him and perhaps it is not only a theme, but a plastic and ethical reflection concerning nature.”
