“Osirarte was a studio founded by Paulo Rossi Osir in 1940 for the production of tiles with artistic themes and was important in Brazilian art at the time. It produced, for instance, the tiles for Portinari's panels at the Ministry of Education and Health in Rio de Janeiro, also known as Capanema Palace. The tiles of the external mural of São Francisco Church, in Pampulha [Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais state], were also produced by Osirarte. Several artists who had a meaningful presence in the art of that time worked in this studio such as Gerda Brentani, Hilde Weber, Zanini, Volpi, the Santa Helena group, among many others. It was active until Paulo Rossi’s death in 1959.”
